Happy Juneteenth!

This is a wonderful day celebrating the historic moment of freedom for Black Americans after the Civil War.

On this day in 1865, Union soldiers traveled to Texas to enforce the law that all enslaved Black Americans were free. It’s an important mark in our history that recognizes the true day when those oppressed by slavery were free.

It is now up to us to continue to create a world where everyone is free from oppression. We should take this day as a reminder of how long we have come from and how long we have yet to go.

Celebrate Earth Day by looking at some greenery around you.

From the trees, saplings, and each individual blade of grass—I find that I’m learning more about our earth from our plant friends.

The plants have a calming nature, which I think is a necessity in our modern world.

Enjoy the breeze and leaves. I wish everyone in the RGV a Happy Earth Day.

Black History Month is a reminder that our country stands on the shoulders of civil rights giants.

Martin Luther King, Jr., John Lewis, and Jesse Jackson are classic examples of people who lead with their values.

I hope to continue to learn about leadership from the stories of these men. They set the example on how to lead a life full of care and empathy.

I went to J’aime Les Livres in McAllen this past weekend. They were selling some bookmarks designed by a local artist!

I believe the artist is named “Andrea”. I couldn’t find a website to reference them, but the owner of the bookstore said they wanted to support the artist by selling their bookmarks.
